IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

A.  Editing Microsoft Office Online  and Firefox limits NPAPI support (technology required for Java applets)

 

The system provides editing documents on-line in desktop applications Microsoft office and free OpenOffice.org. User will be able to see and edit the documents located on server with double-click files i.e. doc, xls, odt etc from file manager in the audit application online. They will not need to download files and then upload them back after editing.

 

This feature however requires Java NPAPI support (technology required for Java applets) which is no longer available as Firefox drops the support in March 2017.

 

In order to use on-line editing document feature, you are required to use Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release  or  downgrade existing Firefox to version 51 or below.

 

64-bit Firefox

The 64-bit version of Firefox does not support NPAPI plug-ins, including Java.

 

Firefox 52 and above

 

Beginning with Firefox 52 (released March 2017), plug-in support is limited to Adobe Flash, and drops support for NPAPI, impacting plugins for Java, Silverlight, and other similar NPAPI based plugins.

 

Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release

 

Mozilla offers an Extended Support Release (ESR) version of Firefox specifically for use by organizations who need extended support for mass deployments. Only Mozilla Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release will continue offering support for the standards-based plugin support technology required to launch Java Applets. To see if you are using an ESR release, check the Firefox menu item (Help -> About) and looking for the "ESR" identifier.

 

Mozilla maintains Firefox ESR Releases for approximately one year. Developers and users still relying on the Java plugin technology in the 32-bit Mozilla Firefox web browser should consider migrating to a different solution.

   


B.  Migration to New Portal , Forum and License Server

 

To facilitate our business development and to serve customers better, we will migrate to new portal, forum and licensing server with effective from 1 October 2017.

 

  1. New and 4 stand-alone packages  a)  audit sampling, b)  time sheet, c)  asset-loan and  d)  worksheet package are now available and can be leased through our new portal.
  2. Forum is set up for suggested improvement and discussion
  3. Customer support can be made through Ticketing System which can track all our customer communication in one central place with the built-in help desk.
  4. Change in license mode and  new licensing key is to be re-issued for all existing auditSME clients to activate the license after upgrading this version 3.005
  5. Recurring and one-off billing, payment reminder are to be automated through email.

    

 

C.  Major new features, update and improvement on new release version 3.005

 

  1. NEW:   Audit sampling stand-alone package or sampling  plug-in to existing auditSME

     

    1. Generate audit data with various sampling methods i.e. judgemental sampling, stratification and monetary unit sampling etc
    2. Integrate sampling data with audit worksheets and customizable audit procedures
    3. Sampling projection and evaluation i.e. simple random classical variable sampling (mean-per-unit and ratio estimation) or monetary unit sampling 
    4. Gap and duplicate detection can be performed on invoice, sales order or any accounting documents with serial numbers.
    5. Accounting data extraction and analysis from accounting records i.e. general ledger, sale and purchase transactions journal etc without need to go through physical  inspection of the accounting records.  View, sort and print accounting data easily from accounting records instantly either by date, transaction description or by value, then users can integrate data extracted from records with audit worksheet.
    6. Import account receivable (AR) or account payable (AP) aging report in foreign currency, view, print or generate worksheet with required audit procedures, then have auto translation of closing balances and auto calculation of unreliased loss\gain by use of built-in foreign currency exchange rate table.
    7. Imported account receivable (AR) and account payable (AP) aging report became part of audit worksheet sheets.  System provides powerful tools to :
      • Merge and combine oversea AR/AP Age listing (foreign currency amount) automatically into AR/AP age listing (local currency)
      • Provide powerful AR\AP reclassification/contra adjustment tools to reclassify\contra visually from trade receivable to other receivable, trade payable, other payable (or vice versa)
      • Upon completion of  adjustments, system can  a) instantly update trial balance and main lead schedules.  b) display reconciliation statements between unaudited and audited balances in AR\AP listing.

      

  2. NEW:  Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) to PDF file converter

     

    Convert Microsoft office Word and Excel files to PDF format and  display PDF file directly in audit worksheet\sub-lead schedules.  Edit, view, delete and re-convert  Microsoft office Word and Excel files.  View and delete by use of  PDF viewer.

      

    1. create Microsoft word and excel file directly in file manager by use of PHP office library.
    2. convert Microsoft word and excel file to PDF file and attach to audit worksheet with newly-created audit index, then view, edit delete and re-converted  the file in the worksheet directly
    3. attach PDF file in file manager to new audit worksheet with audit index, view, edit delete and re-converted  the file in the worksheet directly

       

  3. NEW:  Time sheet stand-alone package or time sheet  plug-in to existing auditSME

     

    The time sheet , that is purely designed for audit, tax and accountancy firm,  has the following major features:

  9. IMPROVEMENT where users can now add and edit content to the bottom of note to financial statements by use of text editor i.e. append  "Lodged by"information.

     

  10. IMPROVEMENT where page-break checkbox scripts are re-written to tackle on slow performance and taking large computer resources when loading full audited financial statements for editing. It is estimated to achieve approximately 20%to 30% improvement in loading times.

      

  11. IMPROVEMENT  where in previous version deleting card personal information requires checking of records  linked to that card. Deleting is not allowed unless linked records are deleted , which requires a lot of effort to clear the records.  Now it is possible to clear all the linked records with simple steps. 
      
  12. IMPROVEMENT where investment property at fair value is allowed to be shown separate line in statement of financial position and note to financial statements.

     

  13. IMPROVEMENT  where users now can edit share capital (movement of paid-up shares i.e. issued during the year) in  note to financial statements which  was static and  not editable previously.

     

  14. IMPROVEMENT  where more than one directors are now allowed to sign in  Signature and Approval Section in proposed journal adjustment worksheet.   Further, prior yer adjustment  arising from transition to new approved accounting standards or arising from accounting errors are now shown in separate worksheet and can be presented to clients for approval and signature.

     

  15. IMPROVEMENT where users now can change and edit the closing reporting year end and system will auto update year-end related financial data.  This saves users from substantial amount of time in re-importing, re-grouping Trial Balance only after found that closing year end was wrongly entered in the system.

     

  16. IMPROVEMENT where system now allows only one Model Trading Company to be used for directly creating a new company (database)  instead of using any of 7 Model Companies.  This allow users to quickly and effectively update this Model Company's configurations and  setting  i.e. auditor license number, secretary info etc which the newly-created company immediately inherit all the configuration of this Model Company when a new client is required.

     

  17. IMPROVEMENT where users now can change and edit the wording in financial statements which  previously were static and not editable.  i.e. net profit for the year\period was not allowed to be edited in income statement previously.

     

  18. IMPROVEMENT where users can new create new company (database) by using any existing companies as a TEMPLATE and the newly-created company will inherit all the configuration and setting, financial reporting description etc of that existing company.

     

  19. IMPROVEMENT where in previous version sub-lead schedule index and titles were created without tie-in to financial year end.  To avoid unused index and titles in sub-menu navigator bar,  all the sub-lead schedule indexes are now created and tied to that particular year end.    Further,  copying last year sub-lead schedules, index and titles has been modified and improved to allow quick and selective creation of  relevant index and title.

     

  20. IMPROVEMENT where in previous version statutory information in respect of directors, shareholders, auditors, secretary, banks and registered office etc had to be entered separately in different location and menu bar.  It is now possible to complete and enter all those information in one location while creating new card personal information.  This make user entering data and information much more easier and efficient than before.

     

  21. IMPROVEMENT where round-up error mechanism has been improved to simplify steps as certain steps are automated so that users are guided step by step to solve the issue.

     

  22. IMPROVEMENT:  allow auto loading the bullet list of accounting policy in note to financial statements i.e. 2.1 Property, plant and equipment 2.1.1. Depreciation etc,  if  8 major pre-defined reporting formats of audited financial statements are selected in the system unless overridden by user preference report configuration. 

     

  23. NEW: Add 2 additional popular reporting formats of audited financial statements Code D and Code H, based on those financial statements of companies listed in KLSE.

     

  24. IMPROVEMENT where Delete TB is added to main menu for easy access user-friendliness.

     

  25. IMPROVEMENT where highlight directly to users  in respect of rounding error message in statement of changes in equity and balance sheet in printed copy of audited financial statements with option to remove error messages by users.

     

  26. IMPROVEMENT by providing numeric validation in Create Form of statement of changes in equity to prevent users from keying non-numeric character in numeric field.

     

  27. FIX BUG where breaking reporting headers "Financial period from 1 September 20xx to 31 August 201xx" in financial statement in 2 separate lines when  accounting period is not exactly 12 month. This is to avoid unpleasant layout arising from too many characters in one long line description.

     

  28. FIX BUGwhere there is wrong layout layout in corporate information, income statement and statement of changes in equity

     

  29. FIX BUG while during process of creating share capital in Directors' report,  authorised share capital is not properly created and presented. 

     

  30. FIX BUG where remove duplicate row and amount in management accounts

     

  31. FIX BUG where remove duplicate word 'date of incorporation' in Section: Director of Directors' Report  under CA 2016 and duplicate word 'note' in Section: Basis of Preparation in note to financial statements .

     

  32. FIX BUG where certain replacement of dynamic variable words used for audit letter and correspondences i.e.#due_date# etc,  are not replaced correctly.

     

  33. FIX BUG in dividend menu where refreshing data system did not delete relevant records and generate correct info in Directors' Report

     

  34. FIX BUGS on assets and loan plug in, including unexpired interests and layout

     

  35. FIX BUGS on  printing audited financial statements where  'Draft for discussion purpose' did not repeat for every printed pages

     

  36. FIX BUG where time schedule back-up does not work due to  password error
